JMM

JBM:
Where are you from?

JMM:
was born in Detroit Michigan and lived there for the first 8 or 9 years of my life. My upbringing was very much like Eminem with just a couple minor exceptions. There were no african americans in my neighborhood and we were rich. Ok, not rich, but we were comfortable. Other than that, Our life story is about the same. I don't remember if we moved when I was 8 or 9, I can ask my mom if it's important. But we moved to Encino California. Oh, by this time we were rich.

JBM:
What did you do before the internet?

JMM:
Before the internet I was a financial consultant specializing in Business Financial Services for a large, very large, investment firm. I managed approximately 380 million dollars for about 200 clients.

JBM:
How did you get involved in the adult internet?

JMM:
As a hobby, I ran an 8 line BBS out of my house. I wanted to charge $10 a month, but was told I needed to have porn on there. Even back then, I knew I couldnt just take pictures I found and use them, so I bought pictures from local photographers for about a nickel a picture. Scanned them all in (back them it took 15 minutes per picture) and uploaded them to the BBS. The next day, Al Gore invented the internet and I was screwed. So I started a website instead. Sales my first week were $12,000.

JBM:
What all does SunupMedia do?

JMM:
We do a lot of things. We run some sites, including realpeachez.com and webvirgins.com through our affiliate program at www.sexstuffsells.com We license content at www.content-club.com and we do quite a bit of design work. We have some other sites as well, but they are just in development.

JBM:
I would think with the proliferation of content companies and blowout sales, your company may have felt the pinch. Have you been affected?

JMM:
No, not really. Our content is unique. Midgets, trannies and some great amateur stuff!

JBM:
How much of your business is content related?

JMM:
5%

JBM:
What is the best way to deal with flakey models?

JMM:
The best way to deal with flaky models is to not deal with them at all. It's different today than it was 9 years ago. I remember when we first started hiring models, we had to explain to them what the internet was. Today, we obviously dont have to do that. There is more competition for good models these days, but there are substantially more models to choose from. It's cool to be a porn chick in 2005!

JBM:
Let's say a model is in for a shoot and to make it work, she needs to put 2 bannanas in her ass, but she won't do it. How do you finally get her to see things your way to create magic...threats, violence, intimidation?

JMM:
Nope, we send her on her way. The reason is simple. She will be trouble later on. Even though you pay her, have an airtight model release, have her beg you on camera that she really does want 2 bananas in her ass, she will still come back with a lawyer that she is banging and make trouble. We will win in court, but that will be $20,000 later. Believe it or not, if we send her on her way, we will easily find someone else who would love sticking 2 bananas in their ass, probably cheaper too!

JBM:
Do you think I could make a killing selling your stuff on Ebay?

JMM:
Yes, I think you could, and I encourage you to try. There is money to be made in intellectual property and I would love to take some of yours!

JBM:
You're one of those people that are around on the boards alot, then disapear for years at a time, where do you go?

JMM:
Well, I wouldn't say years, maybe months. The boards are entertainment for me, with a rare business opportunity. I am very focused. I have an amazing wife and 3 awesome kids who I actually miss quite a bit during the day. So, I like to come to the office, focus on what I need to accomplish, and be home for dinner. I do jump on the boards when I see misinformation that can actually hurt someone, and for the occasional fun thread. Just because I'm not posting, doesnt mean I am not reading. I also jump on when someone thinks they are going to get away with dissing the greatest college football team of all time, the Michigan Wolverines. I can't tolerate that. Go Blue!

JBM:
Is Dave Cummings your father?

JMM:
Nope. Although I have a tremendous amount of respect for Dave and what he has done in his life. Dave gets more accomplished by 8 am than most people do all day.

JBM:
What are your feelings on the new 2257 regulations?

JMM:
I have none. This is what lawyers are for. I'll let the FSC lawyers do their job and comment when a comment needs to be made.

JBM:
Do you admire anyone in this biz?

JMM:
Yes, I admire several people in this business. Since this is JBM, I will start with Brad Shaw. I think he is an incredible businessman. And remember, business was my specialty. I have dealt with some of the best and Brad is sharp. Despite what his detractors would lead you to believe.
I admire you. I have no clue what the hell you do, yet you just dont go away.
I admire Mike AI, extremely sharp and also one of the nicest guys you will meet. I admire Zimm, probably the sharpest in the business. Ok, thats two jews and two goyim, is that enough?

JBM:
Where do you see the adult internet heading in the near future?

JMM:
Onward and upward. I could make predictions, but they will be senseless. People want this content and they will seek it out. Until they invent something better, I think it will continue to strive.

JBM:
What was your greatest accomplishment in this biz?

JMM:
Hmm..I think my greatest accomplishment was going to court to give models the right to sue when their likenesses were used without consent. The law in California was on the books, but all the cases were being lost. The defense would argue that the California law regarding rights to likeness were superceded by federal copyright law and the cases would get thrown out. It never made sense to me since the model is almost never the copyright holder, and therefore if federal copyright law supercedes state law, the model would never have rights. So we brought a case, lost, and appealed. The california appelate court, in a 3-0 unanimous decision agreed with us and published their decision. KNB vs Matthews is now The case when it comes to this issue (SunUp Media Group used to be KNB ENTERPRISES). I think its important in this business to remember that the people in the content make us our money, and should be protected as well.

JBM:
What are your non-adult interests?

JMM:
Long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, jacuzzi tubs, but I'm busy this week how does next week look for you? Actually, number 1 is spending time with my wife and kids. We love going for walks, to the beach, we are big boaters and have a 24 foot sunesta and two yamaha wave runners. April to August if we arent home we are probably on a lake somewhere. Havasu, Mead, Powell. I am also a huge college football fan and NFL fan. I have been a San Diego Chargers season ticket holder for 5 years. Go Blue! Go Bolts! Bottom line is that if I am with my wife and kids, I am happy doing anything or being anywhere.

JBM:
Take me through a typical day.

JMM:
I wake up. I shower. I check the balls to see if a trim is necessary. I come to work. I check to make sure everything is working. I get my employees doing what they should be doing for the day. And then its communication with customers, partners and affiliates. I go home. I spend time with my family. I go to bed. 4-6 times per week, there is also some sex in there somewhere. At least 3 of those times it involves my wife.

JBM:
If it were to all go away tomorrow, what would you be doing for a living?

JMM:
Hmmm..It would have to be something that I owned. It would be difficult for me to go back to a job where I worked for someone else. People are idiots. The biggest idiots usually hire me. I dont think I could ever do that again. Real Estate maybe?

JBM:
What do you do for fun or relax?

JMM:
Again, spending time with my family. When I am with them, I am relaxed. Even though two of my kids are 3 and almost 5 and are prone to a temper tantrum now and then, it sill relaxes me. I take great comfort in my family.

JBM:
Tell me something no one knows about you.

JMM:
I can lick my eyebrows. Oh wait, lots of people know that. Ok, here it is..I cry at movies. ET, balling. Forestt Gump, balling. Oh, and Rudy, at the end, when they lift him up and they show his dad??? BALLING! I'm a very sensitive guy. My wife and kids know that, but nobody here does, until now.

JBM:
Anything you want to plug?

JMM:
Yes, we just launced www.realpeachez.com She has been on the web since 15 but always non-nude. She has a HUGE following and she is now nude, and hardcore. We launched it yesterday and conversions, as I type this, are 1 in 8. Even I am amazed. People have been waiting for this for 4 years.
