Making A Transparent Button
Programs Used: Photoshop 6
Skill Level: Basic
1) Create a canvas 100x100. Make sure that snap-to-grid is on.
To do this, go into the main menu option "View" then tick
Snap to grid.
2) Create a new layer
3) Use the ellipse tool while holding the SHIFT key to create a
circle.

4) Add another circle horizontal to the first.

5) Next use the rectangle tool to join the centres of the circles
together and fill it with a gradient.

6) Select the shape by holding CTRL and clicking on the layer. Contract
the image by a few pixel (Eg 3) and delete the centre of the image.

7) Now create a new layer and fill the centre of the image in with
a lighter colour and lower the opacity to about 30%.
8) Go back to the first layer and add some effects to the shape
of the border. Add in Bevel and Emboss, and Contour.

Done... the centre of the button is transparent allowing background
images to come through. Add some text in the centre with a few effects
to finish off the button.
